The Andalusians De La Parra Dancing Stallion Show has traveled around the US, performing exhibitions of Classical Dressage, a beautiful ballet that includes:
|
THE PASSAGE |
A very collected trot with a hint of suspension, as if the horse were skipping a beat. |
| THE PIAFFER |
A very rythmic, high, impulsive march in place. |
| THE SPANISH WALK |
A slow animated walk, elevating the forelegs, while maintaining collection. |
|
THE LEVADE |
The horse must stand on the hind legs to a 45 degree angle, showing great muscle and control. |
| THE COURBETTE |
The horse balances on the hind legs, then jumps forward before returning the forelegs to the ground. |
These movements are alternated with half-passes, pirouettes and lead changes at different tempos.
Nothing artificial is used in the training of our Andalusians. They are well suited for these movements because of their natural balance, conformation and agility. Their training follows a pattern similar to that of an Olympic gymnast, developing sets of muscles before moving on to the next exercise.
